About Copenhagen

Velkommen til København!

Denmark is one of the world’s oldest monarchies with a history that
stretches back to the Viking Age around 1000 A.D. Copenhagen was originally a little fishing village that developed into what is today one of the most bustling metropolis not only in Scandinavia, but in the entire European community.

Considered as a centre of art and culture with plenty of sightseeing opportunities, you should not miss the iconic Little Mermaid statue, Tivoli gardens, or the many winding roads where the medieval and rococo buildings line the way to the Strøget (the longest pedestrian street with a wealth of shops). And don’t forget Nyhavn, the harbour area, where you can enjoy the view of the coloured houses from one of the many varied restaurants or small bars.

No visit is complete without sampling a typical Smørrebrød, an open sandwich with plenty of delicious toppings, served with a glass of good Danish beer. Let your mouth water in the booming bistro scene where the New Nordic Cuisine initiative has created an entirely new focus on local ingredients. Copenhagen stands out for its design, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life science sectors and is also known as the “Capital of Sustainable Meetings”. It is internationally renowned as the leader when it comes to hosting sustainable meetings and conferences. It also has an artistic flare and offers a lot in terms of social life with high cultural standards.

Celebrated as Northern Europe’s largest festival city, numerous events are held during the year with themes ranging from pop and jazz to film, ballet, design and the visual arts. We are confident that you will enjoy the beautiful city of Copenhagen and we look forward to welcoming you to the friendly Danish atmosphere in a state-of-the-art venue!
